Nine schools participated in the finals event with the winners, runners-up and ‘best of the rest’ competing against each other for the coveted County Final honours. Teams from Oxford High, Burford School, Bicester Community School and Tudor Hall were amongst those present.
During the evening the Y.E. Chairperson of the South East Region – Jan Sharman – presented Kingham Hill School with a ‘Centre of Excellence’ Award! This most prestigious award is for supporting Y.E. for the last fifteen years and for recognising the importance of the various Y.E. programmes. In her role as Y.E. Link Teacher Julie Stodart-Cook has run the company programme for nearly all of that time. Rosie Hayes (Careers Officer) has also utilised the services of Y.E. with their ‘Learn to Earn’ Days aimed at Year 10 students. Athena Joy (Head of Extra-Curricular) has also apportioned her Saturday budget to allow the KHS pupils to experience ‘In Business with the Games’ a fun programme aimed at the pupils marketing and financing a specific area of the London Olympics next year. During this time KHS has also hosted many YE Kick Off Events and Trade Fairs and generally supported the programme extremely well. Nick Seward (Headmaster) and Julie were delighted to be called onto the stage to receive the ‘Centre of Excellence’ Award and are extremely proud to be the first school in Oxfordshire to win this extremely prestigious award.
