Last year's winners, Severn, were hoping to retain the cup but following a keenly fought contest, the winner of 2013 House Singing was announced as Durham, who triumphed with their rendition of Holding out for a Hero from the movie Footloose. This was cleverly interspersed with the 80s hit Fame, impressing the judging panel. Following in second place was Greenwich House, who chose Lean on Me from the film of the same name, and in third place was Havelock with Eye of the Tiger from Rocky 3. The title of 'Most Improved House' went to Plymouth.
The judging panel, this year comprising the school's organ teacher Dan Chambers, Hannah Seward (who directs the Chapel Choir), Headmaster Nick Seward and Deputy Head Andrew Evans, had a difficult task on their hands to choose just one overall winner and it took 20 minutes of intense discussions before announcing their decision.
It was a great afternoon of music making and well done to all the houses for their efforts to make it such a successful competition.
