Congratulations must go to Nikita who managed to achieve his goal by some margin (as you can see in the photograph). Tom Lewis was the next Sheffield boy to cross the line (3rd place). His contribution was important but everyone needed to play their part if we were to retain our title and this event was marked by a number of dark horses who have certainly been hiding their light under a bushel. Will Haddadi was the third Sheffield senior pupil to arrive home, in sixth place – not bad for a young man in Year 11. In addition, our Spanish import, Toni Lon, showed that he was a very competent runner. Was three Sheffield runners in the top ten places going to be enough?
The final results saw Sheffield finally lose the crown to Bradford who fully deserved their win with some outstanding performances from a number of their boys. We came second in both the Senior and Intermediate categories. This excellent achievement in the younger group is down to the effort of runners like Daniel Edge (photo) who strove hard to attain the best place they could – even if they are built for the front row! Well done guys, all those extra hours at the Spartans’ Gym Club have definitely paid off.
