The day started with a welcome coffee and meeting old and new faces and having got their names from our new booking system on the Web site, it was very interesting for me as the event organiser to put faces to the names on tickets.
We had a very informal day 28 of the group attended the AGM which is important to any association, so the years reports can be questioned by the membership.
It was good to see Ex pupils bringing along their families, so using the sixth form area proved to be a good base from which wives and partners did not have to get involved with the AGM.
Throughout the day Heather in the catering department provided us with what can only described as excellent service and food.
The Buffet Lunch was a lovely spread which every-one commented, great food and presentation.
It was a last minute decision by the school not to field a cricket match due to unforeseen circumstances. We also had gone to a lot of work through Simon Briggs to present a small gift in this the Diamond Jubilee Year to those leaving the Hill this year.
However due to us not knowing about the leavers ball the night before, and most not able to attend we have asked if the Headmaster would kindly give the gifts out on Speech-Day next Saturday 30th June.
I am taking on the role of Events and Secretary in the KHA, and the school is having a new development officer, which means I shall have one contact who will be in touch with all the school daily routines, so hopefully this scenario will be avoided in the future.
During the afternoon we visited the founders place of rest at Daylesford Church and laid a wreath in thanks for Kingham Hill School being an influence in our lives, and for the founder Charles Edward Baring Young whose vision still continues today.
May I thank all those who made the day a success; and Jo Cavan the Headmaster's PA who whilst having a lot of her own school workload helped me organise the day.
Thanks also to Scott Birnie, [ now Hospitality Dept], for the Pool facility and ensuring our flag was flying on the day.
We wish to thank the school for making us welcome and the headmaster for attending the AGM.
Thanks to Heather and Sue and team in the kitchens for working so hard in making our day a truly enjoyable one, and not forgetting the Bursar Amanda for last minute arrangements in providing a few drinks from the bar whilst enjoying a lovely BBQ cooked by Heather.
See you all next year Ken Wingfield MBE KHA Events/sec
