Norwhich and Plymouth

1972 to 1978

Theresa came to The Hill in 1972 when appointed as house matron to the original Norwich House. After about a year she was appointed matron to the schools junior boys house the original Plymouth. At that time Teddie Cooper was still the Warden (Headmaster) and Mr. & Mrs. James Woolliams were house parents of Plymouth house.

Clyde House

From September 2014 we will be welcoming back a familiar name to the Hill. Clyde House will return to the Hill following an absence of a number of years. Clyde is now our Junior Boys' Day House for boys aged between 11 and 14.

Christmas has come to Durham House! The House is looking very festive and the girls have hung their stockings with care.

On Sunday 9th September we opened our third girls' boarding house. With more pupils at Kingham Hill at the start of this school year than at the end of the last, and with the percentage of girls at the school now 40%, more beds needed to be found.

Wednesday 26th September 2012

The Durham Reunion Lunch this year was held in the Chequers public house in Churchill, close to Kingham Hill. Though some previous Durhamites couldn't attend through prior commitments, went the day well, if you'll excuse the quote, and it saw the return of other faces.

Kingham Hill School has been awarded a tree pack which The Woodland Trust has sent out commemorate the beginning of WW1.

We will receive a pack of 420 tree saplings about 20cm high. The plan is to plant these as a hedgerow along the School's new boundary (the field between Plymouth and the Headmaster's house) Once the hedge grows this boundary can be opened as a lane for walking/running/mountain biking etc.

Each boarding house will be planting trees this Remembrance Sunday as a living memorial to the Old Boys who died in the War. We would like to extend this invitation for Hillians to attend and plant a tree in remembrance. This will be taking place at 2pm on Sunday 9 November based at the Headmaster's house. Please do come along with wellies and a spade!

A very strongly fought game ending with no goals being scored either side at full time causing it to go to penalties. Greenwich won on sudden death penalties.

Plymouth vs Clyde

The match started off fairly evenly but soon Clyde, through Luke Maslen, started to up their game. With his side steps and game management Clyde began to take the lead scoring try after try. Ed Thompson was hard to hold back, scoring several tries. Plymouth clung on with determination, continuing to threaten with their captain, Thomas Barbour, leading from the front. But unfortunately they couldn't convert their possession and threats into points.

On Friday 6th December, familes of Havelock Farm Boys came together for the first reunion in 75 years to share their histories of the Founder's farm in Canada. Stories were exchanged and connections made during the afternoon which brought together 30 people from Ontario and beyond. Relatives came from as far as California to Old St Paul's Church in Woodstock, 90 miles south of Toronto to meet with fellow descendents of the Farm Boys.

For the last four weeks, the Hill has been filled with the sound of 80s music as the houses rehearsed for this year's House Singing competition. The theme this year was 80s film music and each house picked their favourite song from the era in preparation for the competition on Saturday 12 October.
