The Hermitage Ensemble return to KHS for concert

Russian thbOn Sunday 5 May 2013 at 7:30 pm, Kingham Hill School will welcome the Hermitage Ensemble from St Petersburg for a magnificent evening of Russian music. This is the second visit by the choir, whose first performance at Kingham Hill in 2012 attracted music lovers from across the region.

The beautiful acoustic of the school chapel will provide a wonderful setting for the resonant voices of the Hermitage Ensemble, who will perform a variety of music from the Russian Orthodox repertoire as well as folk songs and music from the Russian monastic tradition.

The members of this small choir are all professional musicians who perform regularly at Orthodox churches across Russia, as well as on the operatic stage and with the Philharmonic Orchestra in St Petersburg. The Hermitage Ensemble has already achieved success throughout Europe and further afield in Australia and America following an extensive touring schedule. Copies of the choir’s latest CD will be available to buy on the night.
