The very helpful landlady from the previous year was missed and there is a mood to perhaps explore a new venue. There was some interest in Ralph Mann's book on Churchill village which he has put a lot of energy into and which will be a useful addition to local history. Inevitably the subject of other Durhamites from our time cropped up. If anyone reading this from our time feels inclined to come and meet just get in touch with Iain Helstrip via the website.
More good news in that Nick Bonnett's recent operation since our meeting has been successful. A consignment of nutritious life sustaining semolina and sandwich spread, courtesy Dixie Dean, has been sprung from the vaults by the elite cadet force KHS SAS 1964 section and couriered to his bedside as I write, though I gather many felt their old uniforms had shrunk a bit since then.
